Qantas Film and Television Awards

Judging Process

Judging overview

Judging will take place between 5 July and 31 July 2010.

In 2009, over 80 judges were selected to judge 639  entries in the Qantas Film and Television Awards. Judges are selected by the Qantas Film and Television Awards committee for their expertise and experience.

Chairs of judges

The Qantas Film and Television Awards committee appoints a chair for each of the three sections of the Awards: News and Current Affairs; General Television and Documentary; and Film.

These chairs are not members of the committee, nor do they sit on any of the judging panels. The role of the chair is to provide support, facilitation and guidance to the judges when required.

Process

A number of checks and balances take place during the judging process to ensure a calibrated set of scores are achieved. These checks and balances include an online scoring process as well as involvement by experienced chairs of judging panels who provide support and advice to judges on process matters if required.

There are also strict rules designed to avoid conflicts of interest. The judges (more than 70 in total) are selected each year by the Qantas Film and Television Awards committee based on their expertise and experience in the categories they are judging.

Feedback on judging process

We are committed to reviewing criteria and assessing all feedback following the completion of each Awards programme. We actively seek feedback from judges. The committee makes changes where this would improve the Awards. For example, this year categories have been revised and criteria refined.

If you have any feedback, it can be emailed to Denise Armstrong at darmstrong@dazzleevents.co.nz
